Our Barefoot Journey Begins

Zeazoo started its barefoot adventure back in 2011, inspired by raising two young boys and eagerly preparing for the arrival of a third. With shoemaking in our blood—our grandfather was a master shoemaker for over 20 years, his father and grandfather too—we recognized the need for a change in children’s footwear.

For generations, mainstream shoes, driven by fast-changing fashion trends, have been a source of foot and spinal issues. 

To us, the purpose of shoes was clear: to protect feet while allowing them to move freely and naturally. 

At that time, we discovered barefoot shoes, initially designed for toddlers with soft suede soles.  This was when probably fewer than 100 people worldwide were considering making barefoot shoes for older kids, teens, and adults.

Zeazoo is proud to be among the first 10 companies to embrace this concept, alongside pioneers like Softstar, Vivobarefoot, Xero, Tikki/Lang.S, Froddo, Filli, Magical. If we’ve missed anyone, we apologize—it was a collective movement, supported by a few dedicated professionals in musculoskeletal health.

Zeazoo is a family-owned business based in Bulgaria. Since 2011, we’ve been committed to making barefoot shoes that prioritize comfort and health. Our focus is on children and women, promoting the healthy development of kids' feet and helping women transition away from uncomfortable high heels.

We create versatile shoes for kids, teens, and women, designed for daily life across all seasons. While we don’t specialize in sports or technical footwear, our designs are perfect for urban lifestyles.

At Zeazoo, we believe foot and spinal health are non-negotiable. That’s why our barefoot shoes are built on these key principles:

• Durable, Natural Materials: High-quality leather and rubber ensure safety and longevity.  We primarily use leather for its unparalleled qualities—durability, breathability, elasticity, and antibacterial properties.
• Sustainable Practices: We process our leather responsibly, meeting strict EU standards.
• Simple, Functional Designs: Our designs focus on functionality, with minimalistic details for optimal comfort.

Materials We Use

• Natural Leather: A durable, breathable, and sustainable byproduct of livestock farming, responsibly processed to meet EU’s REACH standards.
• Vegan Options: For selected models, we use eco-friendly microfiber materials, though these aren’t available for boots or indoor shoes.
• Minimized Waste: We recycle scraps into accessories or donate them to charitable causes.

Fit and Sizing

Our shoes are designed to fit regular to narrow feet. Not sure about sizing? Our customer support team is here to guide you through personalized consultations, size adjustments, and clear explanations of any additional costs.

Special Features - Customization Options

We offer customizations exclusively for models with Vibram® soles, which can be filtered in our webshop for easier selection.

Vibram®  soles are cut to size for each model, with unique shapes requiring careful, hand-cutting by our skilled team.  Due to the personalized nature of these products, custom-sized shoes require additional fees and are non-returnable.

Customizations aren’t available for molded soles, as their production follows standardized processes.

Proudly European Production

Zeazoo is made in Bulgaria, a hub for European shoemaking for over 25 years. By keeping production local, we pay fair salaries, maintain close control over quality while supporting skilled workers in our community.

Real leather shoes remain a handcrafted product due to current technological limitations—no 3D printer can replicate the precision and care required. While fashion demands aesthetic perfection, achieving this often involves heavy chemical and plastic processing. At Zeazoo, we embrace the natural qualities of leather, acknowledging its imperfections as part of its authenticity.

We prioritize innovation to balance beauty and sustainability by using eco-conscious materials such as vegetable-tanned leather, chrome-free linings, and low-chemical treatments.
