How to care for leather shoes in autumn and winter

Cold seasons and especially winter are a real test for leather shoes - moisture, salt and cold can damage even the highest quality leather. But with a little attention you will keep them beautiful, healthy and comfortable for a long time.

Upon receipt and first care

Our shoes are made of natural, soft leather, so some models may arrive slightly wrinkled. This is normal, but after you put them on they will form on your feet.

If you smell glue, just leave them in a ventilated place for a day or two.

Cleaning and maintenance

Clean regularly with a damp cloth or soft brush. Brushes with stiffer bristles can damage the color, and in some cases the surface layer of the leather.

For facial (smooth) leather - use a colorless or color-matched refreshing cream. For suede and nubuck – first brush with a suede brush, then lightly dampen to refresh the color.

On our website you will find leather care products.

Avoid frequent use of detergents - cleaning or impregnating, use them only when necessary.

Do not wash shoes in a washing machine. Long soaking damages and hardens the leather, as well as some internal parts of the shoe. If they are dirty, a good option is hand washing, without soaking and strong detergents.

Moisture and staining

Genuine leather does not like water - moisture can dissolve the paint and dry the material. If the shoes get wet, put paper inside and let them dry naturally, away from a radiator, stove or direct sun. Drying with a hairdryer is also risky.

With more intense colors (red, green, black), slight discoloration of the socks is possible at first - this is normal and disappears over time.

Protection and impregnation

To extend the life of your shoes, use an impregnation product - a cream or spray that repels water and salt. There are universal ones on the market, but there are also those for suede and nubuck, as well as for full-grain leather. It is a good idea to pay attention to whether it is recommended for wool if you want to use the product for our Dingo boots.

Some winter models are made of water-repellent leather (for example, Grizzly and Yeti), but for the rest we recommend regular impregnation. Usually once a month is enough.

Tip:

Do not overdo it with care - natural leather "breathes" and over time acquires its unique appearance. Proper cleaning and storage are quite enough to keep your shoes looking great even in the coldest months.
